How to Use MiniVAN
First off, thank you for being here! Face-to-face conversations are the most effective way to meet people, build relationships, and persuade voters to vote for Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and Democrats up and down the ticket. The goal of canvassing is to have as many quality conversations as possible. Your energy and enthusiasm will help carry us to victory!

MiniVAN is our mobile canvassing tool. You’ll need to download and use it on your phone to take it with you to knock doors.
Step 1: Download MiniVan
Download MiniVan using the Google Play or Apple App Store.
Step 2: Log into MiniVan with ActionID
Once you’ve downloaded the application, you’ll be prompted to log in using your
ActionID.
- Existing Users: If you have an existing account with ActionID (you probably will if you’ve canvassed for Democrats before) then enter your email address and password. Make sure to use the same email to sign in that you used when first creating an action ID then click “Log In.”
- New Users: If you do not have an existing ActionID account, create one by choosing the prompt “Create an ActionID Account.”
Fill out your name, phone number, email, and create a password. Write down your password, save it your notes, or store it in a password manager.
Step 3: Enter a List Number
To begin canvassing you’ll need to enter the 13
digit code provided by your local organizer.
Step 4: Plan Your Route
Look up where your doors are and choose a place to park or get dropped off that’s central to all the houses on your list. You can even type the
address of one the houses on your list into your GPS so you know where to go. Once you arrive, the app will show where you on the map and allow to click on individual houses.
Step 5: Review Your Script
It’s important to review and practice the script before you knock on any doors or speak with any voters. Role play with your canvassing buddy and practice sharing more about why you support Team Harris-Walz! Voters will connect with your
personal story and want to know why you are supporting Vice President Harris.
Step 6: Knock those doors & record that data!
Once you’ve chosen a house to begin with, click the address or number (that number lets you know how many people live in that household) that corresponds with where you’re standing. From there, you’ll see a list of information including details, notes, and history about the household. Go through the script and select the corresponding survey responses.
Step 7: Sync Data
Syncing data after every door is always a great practice, but even if you have been syncing regularly, make sure you sync one more time when you get to the end of your shift.
